The Global Palette

~Artist Medium in Oil and Acrylic on Canvas

Lindsay Hicks is from Mt. Uniacke, Nova Scotia, a rural community
outside of Halifax.  As a child growing up in the country,
surrounded by nature, Lindsay was moved to create art from
a very young age.

Lindsay honed her skills at Mount Allison University
in New Brunswick, where she graduated with a bachelor’s
degree in fine arts in 2005 and Continued her study in Florence, Italy in 2008.

Colour, light and the way they come to life in the natural
world inspire Lindsay’s work.  She sees the world around
her as art, and the colours of nature as her pallet.
Lindsay admires painters like Van Gogh, Monet, Turner
and Maritime artist, Mary Pratt, for their use of colour
and light to express the world as they see it.

“I want people to look at my art and see themselves
-- their memories, fantasies and emotion,” explains Lindsay.
“That’s why I paint.”
